My pastry obsession began when I was a little girl baking Christmas cookies with my mom and trying to make plate fruit salads in artsy manners "NO! The raisin obviously doesn't go there..It has to be on top of that apple slice over there".
Pastry is my passion, but the culinary love of my life is spice. All of 'em. I eat, read and dream of spices. I have an entire drawer alphabetically organised with spice jars filled with little treasures.
My interest in desserts lean more on a "flavour first" approach rather than the artistic side of things with bells and whistles and beautifully shiny mirror glazes. They are lovely things for sure, but I just love playing around with flavour pairings and trying new combinations in my cooking more. So thats what this place is for me. A culinary science lab meets playground in the format of a food blog. Oh man, do I wish I had a real one of those, too.
